The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is the nation’s foremost coalition of leaders from every sector of the building industry, working to promote buildings that are environmentally responsible, profitable, and healthy places to live and work. According to the USGBC website, the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Green Building Rating System® is a voluntary, consensus-based national standard for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings.
LEED® was created by the USGBC to:
-
define “green building” by establishing a common standard of measurement
-
promote integrated, whole-building design practices
-
recognize environmental leadership in the building industry
-
stimulate green competition
-
raise consumer awareness of green building benefits
-
transform the building market
The four categories of LEED® Certification are Basic LEED®, Silver, Gold, and Platinum.
The Frontier Project is pleased to announce our receipt of the LEED® Platinum-Certification in May 2010.
