Restrictions

Effective July 1, 2016, CVWD returned to Stage 1: Encouraging Water Use Efficiency.

Please follow these Water Use Best Practices:

  • No hosing of paved surfaces such as driveways, streets and sidewalks;
  • Use a shutoff nozzle on all hoses;
  • If decorative fountains are in use, they must have a recirculating water system;
  • Fix all leaks and broken sprinklers immediately;
  • Ensure there is no sprinkler over spray or runoff;
  • No watering within 48 hours of a rain event.

There are no watering day restrictions.

The District currently has a fine schedule in place:

  • First violation: written warning;
  • Second violation: the District shall impose a penalty of $50 added to the customer's water bill;
  • Third violation: the District shall impose a penalty of $100 added to the customer's water bill;
  • Fourth and subsequent violations: the District shall impose a penalty of $150 added to the customer's water bill.

Other water saving tips include:

  • Install aerators on household faucets;
  • Upgrade to a smart irrigation controller (rebates available);
  • Replace old sprinkler heads with water-efficient models (rebates available);
  • Install drip irrigation to maximize efficiency;
  • Upgrade older appliances (rebates available for clothes washers and toilets).
