Solar Cup Program

Solar Cup is a seven-month program, sponsored by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, in which schools throughout Southern California participate. During the past 13 years over 10,000 students have participated in this program. Students build and race solar-powered boats, learning about conservation of natural resources, electrical and mechanical engineering, problem solving, and much more. Teams are entered and sponsored by Metropolitan member agencies and local water utilities. The Cucamonga Valley Water District (CVWD) co-sponsors with the Inland Empire Utilities Agency one local high school each year.
